Poor service recovery and questionable design quality
DCU Series : Chevy/GMC Silverado/Sierra

Recently bought my 2nd ARE. New truck, so I had to buy a new topper. Bought the very stylish, but pricey REVO model - no sliding side windows. After about a month, the left side of the back window detached from the hinge. It's glued, not bolted to the hinge. So, I'm okay with this design IF the epoxy was effective, but ARE clearly has design and/or quality control issues. My dealer said "no problem" just take picture and I'll order a new one, which he did right away. Turns out ARE couldn't get the replacement window on the weekly truck run, or the next one a week later! So, I'm going with a plastic cover for 4-5 weeks!! So, I paid a HUGE amount of money for this fancy topper (my previous one performed like a champ, so I liked ARE toppers) and it failed. No call, no letter, no nuthin' from ARE. They clearly don't find customer loyalty to be important because if they did, they would have sent the replacement from Ohio to Wisconsin on an expedited delivery. Where I work, if we have anything close to a dissatisfied customer, we call, perform service recovery, file the situation in our quality control system, convene a team meeting to do a root cause analysis, etc. While I will stay with this topper - assuming the new back glass stays put - I will NEVER buy another ARE again. Had ARE done anything about service recovery, they may have kept a loyal customer. Instead, I'm writing here and many other places to tell this story which could result in many "never customers." So the lesson is - ARE has cool designs, and decent performance IMO. But if you run into any quality issues, don't expect ARE to cry a tear because they already have your money$$$.

 Water leaks every where
DCU Series : Ford Super-Duty

I have an 8' mx on my ford super duty... It was made in 2021 ,,and its been on the truck in a garage most of its short life...I had to park the truck out side last week,, and it rained and snowed for a few days..Much to my surprise this thing leaks around the windows,,all the carpet on top of the inside rails was soaked.. By the back window ,, the liner was soaked all the way down from the ceiling.... Of course its out of warranty ,,,so I will have to tear out the liner,,and figure out where the leaks are coming from...

 Poor Quality
DCU Series : Toyota Tundra
October 23, 2023    Posted by: Jonathan
It took 18 weeks to get a bare bones basic cap for my 2023 Tundra. The dealer took over 3 hours to install, right up until the end of the day. Once I got a look at it in the light, it was very apparent the cap was out of alignment. I started measuring and found it to be 3/4-1" out of square, causing it to sit crooked on the bed. I contacted the dealer immediately with pictures asking for help. They said "we emailed A.R.E.". Absolutely no progress for an entire month. I contacted A.R.E. and they closed my case immediately, sending me back to the dealer that hasn't done anything to help. Can you hear me now A.R.E.? All I would like is a cap that fits my truck. Please help.
