My first cap was a V-series with head liner, drop-down split front window, dual sliders and Yakima Rack system for my 2005 dakota. Just 2 weeks ago I, purchased a new cx model to fit my 2011 Dakota quad-cab. solid drop-down front window, recessed dual sliders, YakimaRrack system, and exact paint match to the deep cherry pearl coat. With both, fit and finish were tops. A couple of nice touches that I added this time are, the twin indoor wired lights, and the 3-way power point system with battery monitor. In both cases I had/have a valley cargo basket on top of the Yakima Racks. This sits nicely on the racks and, carries the weight evenly. I took the option of buying the extender which adds 2 feet to the length. The basket now sits the entire length of the cap. I really like the new third brake light, clear lens with red LED's and I added a flashing relay that flashes the light 3 times before going solid. An attention grabber in heavy traffic. A hidden plus is the cap adds in most cases enough weight to level out the truck and get better traction. I have found nothing about using a cap that would deter performance. if anything, it gets better! There are a number of manufactures out there, but nobody does it better than A.R.E. period.
