Z top on Honda Ridgeline leaks
Z Series : Honda Ridgeline

November 27, 2020    Posted by: Ralph
Serial Number: N3888272/CD2020034723 Z Series Top purchased 6/24/2020 and Installed 8/31/2020. Top does not rest on the bed rail to lap over outside of bed. Rather, it rests on the bed rail and that design has resulted in water leaking predominantly along the front side of the bed but also in multiple places along both sides of the bed rail. 10/05/2020 the Installer (Phoenix) removed top, resealed and reinstalled. At that time Phoenix ordered side windows that they said were were also leaking around the glass at bottom. Following that repair the leaks along the front bed rail and side rails continued. 11/16/2020 the Installer replaced side windows, removed top, resealed and reinstalled. Following that repair the leaks along the front bed rail and side rails continued. To date the Z series top has been installed and sealed 3 times and continues to leak more each time. The replacement windows could also be leaking but I am unable to determine that as long as the siderails continue to leak. Lastly, the replacement side windows will only slide open with excessive force and will not reclose to a locked position.

After having owned LEER and Snugtop shells, I found this product to have generally good build quality, with one serious flaw. I ordered mine with pet screens, and really like them. The airflow through the shell is great with the big side slider windows open and the front window of the shell open. On my unit, however, one of the latch cables was not properly fastened during manufacturing. It slipped, leaving my shell locked with no way to open it. It caused me a lot of problems over the weekend it had it out. Not the quality I expected from this product price point. Otherwise it’s a very good looking design, and nicely finished. This cap leaks badly- Honda failed on the detailed design of the front corners of the Gen 2 Ridgeline bed, and A.R.E. didn’t compensate for the problem with this cap design.

Great Product - Extremely Poor Dealer Service
Z Series : Honda Ridgeline

Spent months researching which brand of topper to purchase. ARE was the best for many reasons. Picked a dealer and had a positive purchase and installation experience. Told by the dealer that if we had any problems, just return to us and we'll fix it. First heavy rain and the topper seal leaked heavily. Returned to dealer for warranty fix and was quizzed extensively on where it was leaking from, then once repair was complete the work order stated "No canopy will be completely water tight". Not a helpful comment. Indicative that the dealer was far from understanding and suggests that I was an inconvenience. ARE should consider reviewing its dealer network for customer service and warranty more closely.
