 CX to Replace MX
CX Classic : Chevy/GMC Silverado/Sierra

I damaged the rear window frame on my 2 year old MX cap by backing our of my garage with the window up. It caught the 8 ft overhead door. Rather than spend the $500 to repair it, I put the money toward a new lower CX cap. With the window open, it now clears my door so it won't happen again. Also, with my 3/4 ton GMC, the MX cap made the overall height greater than 7 feet so it wouldn't fit in most car washes. I miss the extra 5 inches or so of inside height, but overall the compromise is probably worth it. Cap quality and installation is/was very good.

This survey is being written because of my CX series CAP that I purchased from Elite Coach in Murrysville Pa. The Cap at first glance looked like my previous ARE CAPs that I have purchased from the same vendor but after leaving and going over the product closely I found discrepancies with it. The majority were with ARE and the remaining was with the installation which I discussed with the vendor and they agreed with my concerns. Now concerning the CAP the rear window lift gate was poorly made (not what i'm used to with ARE caps) the vendor had to bend the locking rods to close the lid, then you could see the gap between the cap and the lid were not the same, the part of the lid that contacts the tail gate is tapered I guess so water or whatever can easily flow without gathering if it fit flat to the gate, the design needs to be looked at creating a right triangle for a better and stronger fit right now the way it is the lid will break sooner than later because that is the weakest part of the Lid, now this could be because of the lifts which are very strong for that size lid, the only conclusion I can come to is the lid was not designed for my vehicle as agreed with the vendor who By the way Has 20 Yrs experience with cap installations, the vendor also informed me the lid was not designed for my truck. Now in regards to the support spacers I'll call them where the clamps that secure the cap to the truck are positioned to far to the inside of the truck resulting in the clamps on two of the four barely on the spacers another words its an accident looking for a place to happen so in retrospect it seems the railing on the cap is to wide for the bed rails. Pertaining to the lighting the vendor had to replace the brake light because it was not working, the dome light switch was broken, the aluminum framing on the cap around the lid had very sharp edges I mean razor sharp a noter accident looking for a place to happen on this issue the vender says he has to usually bend them to make them safe. Now I know everybody does not really look at these details but I do and in my judgement your quality control is poor at best. One last item your coustomer service department needs some work I called three times twice talking to an agent and once by voice mail and asked for a status of my cap thats going on three weeks so I won't hold my breath. In closing I hope that if and when the cap comes back that these issues are resolved by ARE.

Very poor quality. Looked like a factory second sent out as first class. Company did replace with another one. A lot better quality, second time. Shouldn't been a second time.
