Chinese craftsmanship in an American made product
CX Classic : Ford F150

I just purchased the ARE Revo for a short bed F150. The cap looks great at a distance, but up close inspection shows no pride in workmanship. You would think an 8 week wait would deliver a quality product. The inside drop down window won't drop down because the frame is screwed down so it bends over the window. The sliding window in with will not budge. No Quality control here. The rear window seal has a dip in it when it was installed so it leaks there. In addition the painter didn't bother to tape it off so the seal was painted. The painter also missed a small section on the caps edge. There are some imperfections in one area of the paint but not real bad. It is apparent the people putting these together are just slapping them together with no regard to quality. There apparently is no post assembly inspection or the inspector is equally not concerned with quality. For what they cost, there is no excuse for this cap to have left the factory in the condition it is in. Now I have to go through a warranty process with the installer which cost me time and effort that the assemblers should have used to construct this cap. I would not recommend until there is some pride and quality in its construction.

This is my third ARE bed cover and the quality continues to amaze me. Have had two other brands through the years but have always found ARE to be the best fit and finish.

 Life time warranties
CX Classic : Ford F350 Super Duty

I guess when someone says life time warranties it has different meanings to different generations, to me life time means life time, the company stands behind their product under normal usage, ARE doesn’t agree with that statement, after purchasing my topper here in Colorado Springs back in 8/21/98 and Already having the first topper replaced due to warranty issues minus the hardware (windows doors) the second topper started having problems (the base separated from the top) my local dealer sent it back to ARE and were informed I waited to long, what does that mean? Again life time means life time don’t it? I am still the original purchaser. Very disappointed in ARE and will not put an ARE on my new truck, my local dealers hands are tied and I don’t blame them I will get their advise on purchasing a different topper for my new truck (gotta keep my Dogs Happy)
