Purchase of the A.R.E. CX Evolve Pickup Canopy
CX Evolve : Chevy/GMC Other

This is my 3rd A.R.E. canopy over the last many years. The first two canopies were used under a commercial use/configuration and held up very well. Why would I try another brand at this phase of my life? 20 (plus) Years of quality service with this brand is all one needs to say. Also the on-site staff was outstanding in their conduct of business, customer service, communications and an overall thorough and highly professional installation process for this canopy. Of all the other dealerships I shopped (approximately 16 others) it was the on-site staff Jessie, Le and the fellas in the shop that made this process a most pleasant and worthwhile commitment for purchase. Well done folks, it was a pleasure working with you all. You certainly have my utmost customer loyalties. Thanks again Greg Freeman (Retired U.S. Marine corps).

Color is a good match. Overall quality and craftmanship is not as great as you would expect. Certified installer did a subpar job. Will likely be submitting a warrant claims to replace a side window as the screws were overdriven and damaged the aluminum molding. C+ / B- overall review.

CX Evolve : Chevy/GMC Silverado/Sierra

From the sales literature the CX Evolve seemed like a great cap, but the design flaws make it disappointing. The biggest design flaw is the rear door. The one piece glass door seems like it would be an upgrade over a standard flat aluminum framed door, but it isn’t. The glass doesn’t fit well to the contour of the tailgate or to the cap. The fameless glass is just too flexible and unable to close reliably. In order to have no gap between the outer edges of the door, the locks have to be adjusted so that to lock the door you have to push on each corner once the door is lowered. The other main issue is with the front window. I ordered the front tilting window with a center sliding window. Rain water coming off the cab fills the aluminum frame spilling over the slider track and directly into the interior. The water runs down the cap rails and depending on how the truck is leveled it spills down somewhere. Plus since the interior is carpeted the cap rails soak up the water and stay wet for a long time. This is just another poor design. The interior carpeting is done so poorly. The carpeting was stretched between the cap rail and the cap side so that it’s just one long bubble with at least 1” gap between the fiberglass and the carpet. When the carpet was applied they didn’t take the time to press it into the corner. Plus the carpet is already coming off the ceiling in several spots. It going to be a mess in no time. The last quality issue is the exterior transition of the cap rail to the truck bed. The bottom is just raw fiberglass. The cap was delivered already with a chip in the rail due to the unfinished bare fiberglass. It should have been coated to seal up and finish the edge to protect against chipping. All in all this cap is not made very well.
