I bought the Z series truck cap. Painted to match my truck. I purchased all the options available. I have had nothing but unreliable locking issues with the truck cap. I cannot trust to leave anything in the back of it because the lock does not work by remote and half the time it does not work by using the key for the amount of money over $4000 spent on this truck and it is unreliable and unsafe to keep product in the back. Very highly disappointed!!!

I would like a response back that I have the correct lid for my truck. You have the appropriate information. This is my 5th lid from ARE and never have I seen anything like it. The back of the lid extends beyond the tailgate leaving a gap where water and dirt comes in. I waited 3 months for your lid to arrive and be installed only to be very disappointed. All of the other 4 lids sealed all around the tailgate where this one leaves room and could easily be broken into. I contacted 3 dealers within 100 miles and they had no brochures and could not tell me what it looked like. I bought it on past experience but am very disappointed. Your website is outdated and does not show any photos of these new lids. In the past I have recommended ARE lids to people who have bought them but now would not recommend these new ones. This is not the quality fit I have been accustomed to getting from ARE.

The first thing I noticed was the lack of edging material, so the raw cut fiberglass edges and ragged carpet edge are exposed all around. The old covers had nice plastic edging, painted to match, to cover the raw edges and finish the look nicely. The wiring of the remote unlock and LED strip seems convoluted and messy, and it's not just from the installer-I fixed that mess as much as I could, but it still doesn't look like factory wiring like all the various lights I installed on the vehicle. Also, the LED strip does not seem to be functional. The paint is very rough to the touch. I just got it installed today, and still need to gently wash the dust and dirt off to properly feel it, but I think it's going to need extensive paint correction before I can get it covered in paint protective film and ceramic coated like the rest of the truck is. And now it's more than twice the price of an LS II purchased in 2006.
