Product Reviews : A.R.E. Truck Caps and Tonneau Covers

I had an LSX Ultra installed on my new 2014 Ford F150 Super Crew. The Serling Gray Metallic (UJ) paint match was perfect and really looks great on the truck. My dealer, American Car Craft II, was very helpful and efficiently installed the cover. They wired it to the keyless entry just the way I wanted (so it opens on the second remote click with the passenger doors). I had an ARE LSII on my 2002 F150 and it was great, the LSX Ultra is a significant improvement. I love the interior light and keyless entry which make the cover so much more useable for me. My only complaint is with the wiring for interior light. The wires leading to the light are not 'dressed' in any way so there is a red and black exposed wire for the last 6-8 inches leading to the light which are just loose and flopping around. There are also two wires for the microswitch that turns the light on and off that are not dressed. It just gives the mechanism an unfinished look. I watched the dealer take it off the shipping pallet so I know that's how it left the factory. Its a problem that 10 cents worth of heat shrink tubing and some wire tucking will easily fix but A.R.E. should explore that little bit of attention to detail on such an expensive cover (hence the loss of half a star in the rating). All in all, the LSX Ultra is a great cover and I am very pleased with it. I look forward to years of excellent service from this cover.
