| | | DisappointedMX Series : Ford F150
September 23, 2024 Posted by: Jay
I was not going to review my MX campershell, but since a link has been provided through my email I have decided to. This review is not to bad mouth ARE. I would neither recommend or not recommend ARE. But, that is up to you (the buyer). I know most experiences are probably not bad. And, as buyers we tend to be extremely picky. But, I guess when you spend your hard earned money, you expect quality from a company as ARE.
Upon a more thorough inspection of the craftsmanship, I have noticed several things wrong with the shell.
I have a 2015 Ford F150 and as for externally this is what I have noticed. The top of the tailgate on a Ford is a little wider, so an extra piece is required to cover it. The piece was trimmed very unevenly and is completely noticeable how poorly it was trimmed from the rear of the truck. The paint has been chipped in a couple spots, and the external window frame on the passenger side has a chip in it as well. I suppose that is common with the traveling from the factory to the dealer. (:
Now as for internally, I chose to get the carpeted roof liner. The carpet was installed poorly. You can see where they pieced the carpet together, and it’s loose and saggy in some spots. On the driver side near the front of the shell, there are a couple of small spots where the carpet is missing on the sill (the place where the clamps are used to hold the shell onto the truck). So there is no confusion, it was not done because of the clamps. The front window frame looks as if it were over tightened in quite a few spots which has caused the frame to be dented and smashed. There is also carpet sticking out in between the frame of that same window. Above that window to the right and the left, you can see where they fastened something in because the carpet is hanging down around those small holes. I chose the single strip lighting that runs through the center of the shell and it is loose already. There are a few “extra” pieces of hardware left on the camper “sill”, and the carpet is dirty. And, the rear window seal appears to be worn out. With all of this said, I would thoroughly inspect your campershell with a fine toothed comb! (:
I have had the shell less than 30 days, and I have left everything as it was given to me..
I understand there is no such thing as perfect, but this product was so poorly put together and looks like they were in a Huge rush to make it.
I hope there is nothing wrong with the structural integrity of the shell. I would have waited longer for a more quality product. I was in no rush. (:
I sincerely hope your experience is much better than mine! And, I hope this review causes ARE to get back to making quality accessories.
